3 Tips To Boost Men’s Skin Health
Do you ever find your husband, boyfriend, brother or son “borrowing” your cleansers and moisturizers? Ladies, use that as an opportunity to educate them on skin care (while keeping your beauty stash intact.) Here are three healthy skin tips to share with the guys in your life:
1. Wear SPF everyday. Melanoma, the most deadly form of skin cancer, is one of only three cancers with an increasing mortality rate for men. However, in a study done by the Skin Cancer Foundation, only 32 percent of men knew how to properly use sunscreen. Urge guys to check their skin weekly for any signs of skin cancer. Even if that little brown spot seems like nothing, suggest they see a dermatologist.
2. PH matters: Men with more sensitive skin can benefit from products that have a slightly higher pH and/or contain soothing ingredients like aloe. When shopping for skin care products, I urge everyone to look at the pH value. Our skin ranges from 4.5-5.5 pH; a product should be below the pH level of the skin for maximum penetration.
3. Workout Your Skin: Most guys are accustomed to a fitness program, so urge them to work out their skin like they work out their body. I like to call this philosophy the Beauty Workout. Following a simple morning and night regimen using only 3-4 effective products can protect skin from damage and premature aging. Urge them to find a good shave routine and a multi-tasking moisturizer with anti-aging properties and SPF in one to cut down on steps.
