Daily Ingredients to Improve Digestion, Skin & Energy Levels
Who couldn’t use a little more energy, look a little more vibrant and honestly optimize their digestive system? The question is what daily supplements will actually deliver on that promise and how can you incorporate them into your daily routine. One suggestion is to blend supplements into an all in one smoothie or juice that will make it easy for you to drink on the go.
Supplements:
Biotin, a nutrient that supports healthy carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism to promote healthy hair, skin and nails is available in liquid or capsule.
Collagen peptides. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body ensuring the health and vitality of your hair, skin, tendons, cartilage, bones and joints. This is available in foods such as egg whites, wheat germ, lean meats and also fresh fish if you prefer alternatives to powders or liquid gels.
Kombucha. This drink is designed to improve digestion, fight candida (harmful yeast) overgrowth, provides mental clarity, and mood stability. A cupful of this in any morning blend will do the trick to provide balance to your digestive system.
Apple cider vinegar has long been known to help acid reflux, lower blood pressure, improve diabetes and support weight loss. A tablespoon of this will suffice in the morning. Some reports suggest it wards off sugar cravings as well.
Additives:
Greens-There’s honestly nothing like an ingestion of greens to help your skin appearance, digestion and metabolism. The infusion of alkaline essentially promotes efficiency in all areas and eradicates toxins within the body. This is why your skin glows, hair becomes shinier etc. Superfoods suggestions would be: Spinach, kale, cucumber (provides water too), red swiss chard or regular swiss chard. Add as much as you like. Remember that you can add fruits like apples and strawberries to these blends. They are low in natural sugars but provide enough taste to manage the infusion of greens if you do not like greens.
Bases:
Water– while some people don’t like the idea of mixing water with their supplements for taste, H20 is one of the key replenishments we must have every morning. After a 6-8 hour fast, the body is generally depleted and requires hydration. This is a quick way to add tasty hydration alternatives.
Almond milk or coconut milk, Kefir or probiotic yogurts mixed with water also make great additives. Collagen protein is another addition you can make to this blend. Sold at many stores, this protein generally has many imperative amino acids the body requires to optimize muscle growth and bone density.
Things to note: Everything takes time. If these supplements or foods haven’t been part of your daily regimen remember to introduce these items gradually and give it time. The body needs to acclimate to change but you will look and feel happier.
