Cleanse, Calm, & Cool: Post New Year’s Eve Beauty Tips
After all the fun (read: late-night cocktails and midnight toasts) on New Year’s Eve we are often left a little red, puffy, and dehydrated. Combat the not-so-pretty after affects of a night of fun with these post New Year’s Eve beauty tips!
Deep Clean
After a long night out, especially out on the town, I always like to wake up and use a deep cleansing mask to get out all the gunk. And for that, GlamGlow is excellent! The SUPERMUD Clearing Treatment ($69) uses activated charcoal to pull out impurities, eucalyptus leaf to heal the skin, and a six acid blend that helps clear breakouts fast. Smooth on to the skin for up to 20 minutes (can also be used as a spot treatment or for as little as five minutes) and as the grey mud dries you will see the impurities being pulled out in the form of darker dried black spots on the mask. Not sure if the $69 mask will work for you? Order the sample kit for just $11.99! Not only will you get the SUPERMUD Clearing Treatment, you’ll receive a sample of the YOUTHMUD TingleExfoliate Treatment, THIRSTYMUD Hydrating Treatment, and BRIGHTMUD Eye Treatment.
Reduce Redness
Hide redness with Japonesque Velvet Touch Foundation ($36). This lightweight whipped foundation gives an airbrushed look to skin. It’s easy to blend and build on depending on the amount of coverage you need, simply use your favorite moisturizer first, use a foundation brush to buff onto the skin, and blend with a stippling brush. For tougher spots, reach for a creamy concealer like Erase Paste from benefit ($26). This has been a go-to in my makeup arsenal for years, giving complete coverage with a brightening effect that off-sets any discoloration.
De-puff
Calm down puffy eyes with Supergoop Advanced Anti-Aging Eye Cream SPF 37 ($45). The mineral rich cream hydrates and firms the eye area helping to diminish signs of aging and dark circles while providing SPF protection to the delicate area. The cool tip applicator allows you to give a cooling massage and de-puffs almost instantly.
Hydrate
After a night out drinking we are usually left completely dehydrated and while the number one thing we should do is chug down the H2O our skin could use an extra boost. Spray on Phyto-C’s Icy Blue Mist ($40) for fast hydration that plumps skin and calms redness at the same time.
Volumize
Unless you had a truly wild and crazy night, chances are you don’t want to wash out that style or blow dry from the night before. Add volume and texture to your hair with Umberto Dry Texture Spray ($9.99). The spray separates strands, adds major shine, and tames flyaways, plus it adds a fresh scent without the powdery look of dry shampoo. Just spray on dry hair, tousle, and go!
