Beer Yoga Invasion- Move over Green Juices
Beer and yoga, say what?
Formerly promoted on Mashable where Yoga with Beer first invaded Australian shores, it looks like Beer Yoga once again meets headlines in the UK.
The class is being hosted by Funzing UK and includes beer plus mat. It’s housed in an English beer pub. A far cry from the green juices normally supplied at yogi studios around the world.
According to Funzing, an organization who prides themselves on presenting experiences in new and innovative ways, “BeerYoga is the marriage of two great loves – beer and yoga. Both are centuries-old therapies for body, mind and soul. The joy of drinking beer and the mindfulness of yoga compliment each other, and make for an energizing experience. We take the philosophies of yoga and pair it with the pleasure of beer-drinking to reach your highest level of consciousness.”
Originated in Germany, Berlin’s Bier Yoga offers what it called “BeerYoga” in which yogis drink beer and then hit a pose. The studio incorporates beer-drinking movements into its flow and the trend is spreading to Asia as well.
Even here in the states an unconventional North Carolina studio, Hatha and Hops, began the practice to entice people to try yoga and stay until the end of the class.
In Do you yoga Beth Cosi, yoga instructor mentions, “They’re both ancient traditions, they both have to do with craft,” she says. “Your yoga is your constant practice. You never finish practicing. You never check it off the list and get it right.”
