Lake Placid: Winter Sports Heaven
After my trip to Lake Placid, I’ve been eager to try new fun ways to get a workout in. With an itinerary full of activities like downhill skiing on Whiteface mountain and cross country skiing on the Olympic Biathlon trail in the Adirondacks, I was in a white, snow-covered heaven where working out was more fun than ever. And of course, I paid a visit to the spa at Mirror Lake Inn, ate delicious food, and how could I forget the bobsled! The Whiteface website describes the bobsledding experience to a tee:
“You’ll feel the rumble of the sled’s blades passing over the track’s iced surface. You’ll slide through one turn, bank high on the next one and pick up speed on the straightaway. You’ll go faster than you’re allowed to drive a car through town. Then you’ll get to the bottom and want to do it again.”
Experiencing all of these activities surely gave me a new appreciation for the Winter Olympic athletes, and I can’t wait to visit Lake Placid again. Read about my two-day excursion!
