Tread Tabata: 50-Minutes of Fun, Fat-Burning Fitness
Based on her personal rallying cry that “you can do anything for 20 seconds,” Kathy Glabicky, one of Shape Magazine’s “50 Hottest Female Trainers” in the United States, created a fun, fat-burning fitness class called Tread Tabata. A hybrid of a treadmill run and a Tabata class, Tread Tabata could be just what you’re looking for if you want a fun, new workout this fall!
After seeing the amazing benefits of Tabata, Kathy G. wanted to create a workout that combined its intensity with a running program clients wouldn’t be afraid of and a full-body floor workout, thus Tread Tabata was born. The 50-minute class includes running on various speed levels and inclines plus some HIIT intervals throughout, 20 seconds on and 10 seconds rest, 8 times in a row. In just 50 minutes, participants can burn up to 500 calories and in just a few weeks will see results in their body and with their endurance.
In fact, you can expect a two-hour after-burn post class! “Several studies suggest a strong correlation between the number of calories burned post-exercise and the activity’s intensity,” explained Kathy. “The longer and more intense the exercise, the more oxygen the body consumes afterward. This means a higher sustained metabolic rate and resting in more calories burned throughout the day.”
What’s best about Tread Tabata is that you get the benefits of running without having to actually be a runner plus “the after-burn from the HIIT intervals.” Since each workout is different your body won’t plateau. “If you are just trying to get in shape or are an experienced athlete, the ability to customize the Tread Tabata workout to your individual needs allows you to always push yourself,” shares Kathy.
