Currently Craving: Six Spring Beauty Must Haves!
Ah! Spring has finally sprung and with the weather warming up its time to bust out those pastel polishes, that lusciously lavender lipstick, and to re-vamp our skin-and hair care routines! Here’s our list of spring beauty must haves that we’re currently craving!
It’s no secret I love me some SpaRitual, and the new Meditate Collection is no exception! The vegan nail lacquers not only go on in a perfectly smooth application, they are infused with EcoCert-certified bamboo for growing stronger nails, and they are free of DBP, toluene, camphor, formaldehyde, and formaldehyde resin. The spring Mediate Collection was inspired by, you guessed it, meditation and (Good Karma Alert!) 20 percent of proceeds are donated to the David Lynch Foundation, a non-profit organization developed to fund the implementation of scientifically proven stress-reducing modalities, such as meditation for at-risk populations. Shades include: Peace & Harmony, Transcend, Quietness, Calm & Clear, Introspective, and Energy and retail for $10 at select spa and retail locations.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar
If you’re not already familiar with these high pigment lip tars it’s time to get acquainted. There are 46 shades of in-your-face colors that are meant to mixed together to find the shade that’s perfect for you. They have the lasting power of a lipstick but the application of a gloss – the tars go on very slick but when they dry you get the most amazing opaque, satin finish. Because these puppies are so pigmented a little goes a LONG way – just apply the teeniest bead of Lip Tar with a lip brush, either mixed together or alone, and enjoy the compliments coming your way. My fave shade: Memento. Find your own at occmakeup.com! ($18 each)
LAVANILA’s Fresh Vanilla Lemon: The Healthy Fragrance
It takes a lot, and I mean a lot to impress me when it comes to fragrance – but when LAVANILA’s new Fresh Vanilla Lemon scent came across my desk I was obsessed! This is the perfect light spring scent with a modern citrus blend of crisp lemon, fresh bamboo, watery fruits, and pure Madagascar vanilla. The Healthy Fragrance is made with all-natural and organic ingredients and is completely free of harsh chemicals. LAVANILLA infuses organic sugar cane alcohol with exotic essential oils and skin soothing botanicals for a clean, natural, and amazing aroma you’ll be wearing long after the season ends! $58; lavanilla.com
Vaseline Spray & Go: Total Moisture
With the bitter winter weather behind us our skin is screaming for relief! Give it what it wants! Vaseline makes it super easy to moisturize dry winter skin with its brand new Spray & Go Moisturizer. Think spray tan cans without the streaky-side effects but packed with some serious skin hydration benefits. I’ll admit I’m not the best at remembering to use lotion, and I actually find it time consuming so I tend to skip this truly important step in a skin care routine – Vaseline Spray & Go is as easy as spraying a continuous stream of quick-dry lotion all over my body when I hop out of the shower, waiting a second or two, and getting dressed for the day! Plus at less than $7 a can, the price can’t be beat – drugstore.com.
Pür Minerals Limited Edition Art Decadence Collection
By mixing bright pinks with glamorous gold, the limited edition Art Decadence Kit is perfect for a modern spring look. The kit includes an eyeliner/eye shadow duo stick with rose-gold hues perfect for anyone on-the-go, mosiac powder to highlight and contour like a pro, a fun bold pink polish, and a lovely lip gloss to complete your look. An $80 value for just $42 at purminerals.com.
I’m no stranger to extensions – I’ve tried just about every brand of clip-ins but it wasn’t until I tried Hairdo by HairUWear did I think a synthetic hair extension could be believable and wearable. I love the idea of clipping in a hair extension for a pop of color and with the ombre trend going nowhere, along with my fear of actually dying my dark locks, HairUWear’s Ombre Extensions ($49 from Ulta.com) are perfect! I actually decided to remove two of the lower clips to make it a bit easier/more comfortable for me to clip in and I straightened out the wavy style the product came in, clipped them in, and loved the result! Such a fun, edgy look to balance out all of my spring pastels! They are available in six salon-inspired ombre shades, I have the Black Plum but shown is the Hazel. Ladies, keep in mind that a synthetic extension is much cheaper than real human hair but you also can’t expect the lifespan that Remy human hair extensions will give you – this is just a fun option for a few months! $49; ulta.com
