Good Karma: Corbu Spa’s Spa for Humanity
This month’s edition of Good Karma brings us to Cambridge, Massachusetts’ Corbu Spa at The Charles Hotel.
The Charles Hotel is committed to the community, and through partnering with other local organizations, its Corbu Spa has designed three Spa for Humanity packages with five percent of the treatment price donated to designated charities.
The Stress-Free PhD to Benefit Partners in Health (PIC)
This package is ideal for guests on the go and includes an express facial followed by a 30-minute relaxation massage, a classic manicure and pedicure and an eye refiner application. The 110-minute package donates five percent of its $200 price to Partners in Health (PIH), a Boston-based charity which aims to end the “cycle of poverty and disease” in developing nations such as Peru, Siberia and rural Haiti. Founded in 1987, PIH has expanded its community-based approach to healthcare from a clinic in Cange, Haiti, to 12 countries across the globe.
Get Out of the Doghouse to Benefit MSPCA
This package includes a side-by-side massage in Corbu’s “Room for Two” followed by seasonal pedicures and glasses of bubbly. This two-hour treatment is ideal for couples who want a little extra relationship TLC. Five percent of the $190 per person price is donated to, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals-Angell Animal Medical Center, or the MSPCA. Founded in 1868, this private, nonprofit national and international leader in animal protection and veterinary medicine provides care to thousands of animals each year and is the second oldest humane society in the United States. MSPCA services include animal protection and adoption, advocacy, humane education, law enforcement and veterinary care.
Sweet Lavender Dreams to Benefit the EcoLogic Development Fund
A relaxing massage is followed by a body buff and wrap, a Lavender Rose mini-facial to calm the skin and mind and a soothing lavender oil scalp massage. Perfect for anyone who is having trouble sleeping, this 110-minute package donates five percent of its $215 price to the EcoLogic Development Fund, a non-profit environmental organization that empowers rural and indigenous people in Central America and Mexico to restore and protect tropical ecosystems. Started in 1992, EcoLogic focuses on water resource management, forest conservation, CarbonPlus Program, Payment for Ecosystem services and sustainable livelihood alternatives.
