5 Ways to Grow Your Soul This Spring
Did somebody say spring? It’s not just the plants and animals that come out of hibernation to reinvigorate their souls during this time, but humans, too. As we say goodbye to cold winter weather and welcome the sunshine once again, this season is essential for regrowth, relaxation, and renewal. It’s the time to start the healthy habits that last you through the rest of 2023 and beyond. (You will remember to not only water your plants and journal daily but put yourself first.) This leads to a healthier, happier you for yourself and your crew, and you’ll want to spring into these five seasonal ways to grow your soul!
Grow your green thumb
The community garden is calling your name! Head to your local spot this season to grow your green thumb, building a mini-community of your own through the power of fruits, veggies, and great friends. Witnessing your mini tomatoes or sunflowers grow right before your eyes is a beautiful process that’s, simply put, right on the nose when it comes to spring regrowth. And it definitely doesn’t hurt that you’ll get a few gorgeous Instagram shots and tasty fruits out of it! Those with a little more backyard space can even build their own personal home garden, with all the homegrown greens and petal-perfect flowers you could imagine.
Create a gratitude jar
While there are countless reasons to be grateful in every season, the “gratitude attitude” is especially crucial in the spring. We’re just happy that we get to jog outside in the warm weather and have park picnics again, okay? Give your soul a sweet way to say “thank you” with a gratitude jar, an adult-friendly arts and crafts project that you and the whole family will love. Simply grab a cute jar and some colorful paper, and make it a part of your morning routine to write down something that makes you appreciative…using a different hue for each day of the week. By the end of the season, you’ll have a jar full of vibrant, joyful memories and a heart full of gratitude! You can also write them all down in your gratitude journal as you go for extra appreciation.
Take nature walks
Remember when we told you about “forest bathing,” also known as a brisk and beautiful walk in the woods for your own mindfulness? There’s no better time to do it than during the spring, when the lush landscapes are eternally green, and the fresh air makes you want to get moving. Trust us, please take a break from your everyday life and embark on a mindful nature walk! As you deeply breathe in and expose your senses to the beauty of spring, you’ll feel more at peace than ever. Notice the colors, the smells, the sounds, and feel the sun on your skin as you remember the many benefits of daily walking. (They include increased immune function, a decline in joint pain, and more.) When nourishing mindfulness meets majestic nature, there’s nothing you can’t do this spring!
Start spring cleaning
We know what you may be thinking…“tidying up is a drag; how is it supposed to reinvigorate my soul this season?” But don’t knock the power of spring cleaning for the mind, body, and soul until you try it. Decluttering your home can lead to a less-crowded mindset and more space to express yourself in a creative way. Maybe you’ll rediscover your love for art after you uncover a few old drawings in the back of your closet during a decluttering session. Or perhaps you’ll get back into an old hobby, like writing or gaming, after you find an old item that you thought was lost for good… but was just buried under a pile of clothes! A cleaner home is often equivalent to a clearer mind, and you’ll set your soul free after tidying up this season. Trust us on this!
