Bar Scene Spa Scene

Peter just reminded me this morning (after having read the blog I posted yesterday about visiting Spa Castle) that Ian Schrager had mentioned this social spa-ing concept in his talk at the Global Spa Summit 2008. Ian did in fact talk about how our industry needed to think more creatively and one of his suggestions was to make a sort of bar scene spa scene. 
Schrager probably didn’t have the aesthetics of the Korean Spa Castle in mind – he of Studio 54 and Gramercy Park Hotel fame – however, he was right on about how the social scene and spa are a good combination. Seeing it in action at the five-story Korean funhouse, Spa Castle, proves the concept. Now…if someone would just take the idea and add the Ian Schrager magic.
