Good Karma: Coming Together for a Cure
It’s only fitting that for Melanoma Awareness Month we feature a Good Karma that hits near and dear to our hearts at Spafinder Wellness 365. After colleague and friend, Alex Szekely, former president of the Golden Door and Rancho La Puerta, died of melanoma at just 44, our President, Susie Ellis, was inspired to make it our mission to educate and inform others about melanoma awareness and prevention.
More than one million new cases of melanoma are diagnosed in the US each year – and of that number over 7,000 cases will be fatal. Thankfully though, despite being the most serious form of skin cancer, melanoma can be detected early and prevented if you take the proper sun-safety precautions, the most important of these is always remembering to layer on the SPF.
We aren’t shy about sharing our SPF love affair with COOLA Organic Suncare, and we were so thrilled to see that this year COOLA has partnered with the Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA) to help raise awareness and support in the effort to amp up research, find cures, and eliminate melanoma once and for all. To help raise money, COOLA has created a special limited edition (just 2,500 units are available) of their SPF 50 Sunscreen Spray and $5 from each sale will be donated to the MRA, the world’s largest private funder of melanoma research.
To help the cause, and yourself, head over to coolasuncare.com to get your own limited edition SPF 50 Sunscreen Spray ($32).
