Good Karma: Earth Month Edition

Since I was a little girl I’ve always really loved Earth Day and as I’ve gotten older, learned more about the world around me, and well, married an Environmental Engineer, I’ve grown to have an even deeper appreciation for all nature offers and our environment. This month’s edition of Good Karma is spotlighting spas and brands that share my love for Mother Earth and are giving back in really beautiful ways! Check them all out below!

Hiatus Spa + Retreat – Dallas & Hiatus Spa + Retreat – Austin

Hiatus Spa + Retreat locations in Dallas and Austin, Texas, are serious about being eco-friendly and giving back all year long but their April Spa for the Earth program truly takes the cake. With a fundraising goal of $10,000 Hiatus Spa + Retreat locations strive to help provide clean water to those without it worldwide. In order to reach their goal they have been offering special discounted treatments of which they donate 10% to their Earth Fund (along with 10% of all retail purchases) and have been selling raffle tickets for guests to win over $5,000 in spa products and treatments (winners will be announced May 1.). Throughout the year being eco-friendly is engrained in their philosophy – the spas utilize 100% wind-powered energy, VOC-free paint finishes, post-consumer recycled paper printed with soy ink, and have no bottled water policy.

Terrenea – Rancho Palos Verdes, CA

Guests and local residents are invited to go green and take part in Terranea’s annual Earth Week from April 21-25, 2014.  The beyond beautiful eco-friendly, oceanfront resort is offering five days of green events and fun activities to help support environmental conservation. We love that its not only guests that the resort is urging to participate but also locals – so if you’re in the area, be sure to stop by and check out some of the fun, including:

• Pelican Release – In partnership with the International Bird Rescue, the resort will release a rehabilitated pelican into the wild at 10:00 a.m. on April 21st at the Terranea Beach Cove. Watch the joyous event and learn more about wildlife bird rescues, no reservations needed!
• ONEHOPE Wine Tasting at sea beans  –  Guests are invited to a complimentary wine tasting from 5-7 at sea beans by ONEHOPE Wine, which donates half of its proceeds to a variety of causes, including U.S. forest preservation and protection.
