In each month’s installment of Good Karma we spotlight a product or a location that is giving back – and this month we’re thrilled to feature Empowered By You; an underwear line that not only supports your bottom but also supports women everywhere!

Proceeds from the panties go to supporting women while they spearhead their own businesses to rise out of poverty though micro-financing, 20 percent of each sale goes to this cause. Renata M. Black (who founded Empowered By You) is also the founder of The Seven Bar Foundation – which she established in 2005. The company micro-finances impoverished women in order to give them the starting point to succeed. The companies empower women to be self-sufficient so the money they are given isn’t a hand-out but rather a loan. The loans are usually paid back within three to four months with a 9-13 cent interest. Each of the packages tells a story on the back of a woman who was empowered to start her own business!
