Good Karma: Island Spa Catalina Supports Sports Community
This past summer marked the second-annual Community Open House and Appreciation Evening, hosted by Island Spa Catalina in support of its area Avalon High School Athletics. Approximately 200 local residents and visitors attended the evening event, where they enjoyed complimentary mini services such as neck and shoulder massage, facials, makeup refreshers, and spray tans. A product and treatment raffle was part of the festivities as well.
A portion of the proceeds from retail sales made on this successful evening, matched by the Santa Catalina Island Company, was donated to Avalon School’s athletic department to help fund necessary equipment and other aspects for the school’s sports teams. (Athletics in Avalon are said to come at a higher cost due to island logistics.)
Island Spa Catalina, Catalina Island’s first destination resort spa, is housed within the historical El Encanto building. Occupying 15,000 square feet, the spa is an indoor-outdoor haven comprising a salon, café, retail boutique, lounges, soaking pool, relaxation deck, and nine treatment rooms, where services (including hot sand therapy!) integrating island botanicals take place.
