Spa Dentistry or Deepak Chopra?
Hmmm, I have a dilemma. In every issue of Luxury SpaFinder Magazine I get to write a column entitled “Where I’ve Been Lately”. My deadline for the May/June issue is this Tuesday. I’m still trying to decide whether I should write about my experience last week at a swanky dental spa in Palm Desert, California or my visit to the Chopra Center at the Dream Hotel in New York earlier in this month. Both turned out to be very positive experiences.
The plus side for the Dell’Acqua Dental Studio is that it was the very best dental spa I have ever been to! The owner, Rene, a former Ms. America, is the pioneer of spa dentistry, having written her thesis in dental school on creating a spa ambiance for dental practices almost ten years ago. They laughed at her then. But no one is laughing now. On the negative side, the LSF issue will be on the newsstands in May/June, which is not exactly a great time to go to the hot desert.
Then there is the Chopra Center at the Dream Hotel in New York. The plus side of writing about this visit was having a very well choreographed Ayurvedic massage, having the chance to meet Dr. Chopra (who isn’t there too often), and sitting through one of his evening musing sessions. On the negative side, I only get 140 words in my “Where I’ve Been Lately” column, and I need a lot more to fully describe the experience.
I think I’ll decide tomorrow…but I’m leaning toward selecting the Chopra experience for the magazine. It just occurred to me that I can share the dental spa experience through the blog – and it is still a gorgeous time in the desert right now!
