Mickey Joins Michelle’s Battle on Childhood Obesity
Walt Disney Company recently took measures to ensure the fight against childhood obesity is a tough one. The Disney Channel will be limiting the amount of junk food advertising featured during its children’s programing. The big-time move was announced at an event which featured Michelle Obama, the current voice of the cause.
Starting in 2015, Disney’s advertising guidelines will have limits on the number of calories and amount of fat and added sugar so brands that currently run in heavy rotation in ads on the channel, like fast food and sugary cereals, will no longer be aired. The First Lady called these new measures a “game changer,” according to the Associated Press. We couldn’t agree more!
