Nothing says “good morning” like a warm bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. Whether slowly cooked and creamy or blended with fresh fruit in a smoothie, oats provide your body with many benefits. From lowering your cholesterol, boosting your immune system, lowering your risk of high blood sugar, and increasing your intake of daily vitamins and antioxidants, this traditional breakfast dish is a great way to have your best breakfast to start your day.

Blueberry Oatmeal
Ingredients:
1 cup 100% natural whole grain oatmeal
2 tbsp flax seed meal (ground flax)
2 tsp brown sugar
½ tbsp dry cocoa powder, unsweetened
½ cup blueberries, frozen (unsweetened)
½ cup water
Bring water to boil in pan. Mix all dry ingredients in bowl and add to boiling water. Reduce heat to low and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until desired consistency. Stir in frozen blueberries after cooking.
Banana Peanut Butter Oatmeal
Ingredients:
1 cup 100-percent natural whole grain oatmeal
2 tbsp flax seed meal (ground flax)
2 tsp brown sugar
½ large ripe banana
½ tablespoon creamy peanut butter
¼ cup skim milk
Cut banana into chunks and put into a small blender jar with milk; blend until smooth. Bring banana and milk mixture to boil in pan. Mix all dry ingredients in bowl and add to boiling water. Reduce heat to low and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until desired consistency. Stir in peanut butter.
Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal
Ingredients:
1 cup 100% natural whole grain oatmeal
2 tbsp flax seed meal (ground flax)
2 tsp brown sugar
¼ cup canned pumpkin (Libby’s)
¼ tsp cinnamon
⅛ tsp ginger
¼ tsp vanilla extract
½ cup water
Bring water to boil in pan. Mix all dry ingredients in bowl and add to boiling water. Reduce heat to low and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until desired consistency. Stir in pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger, and vanilla and enjoy!
