Straight from the Garden: A Healthy Farm-Fresh Smoothie Recipe
We’ve talked all about the benefits of growing your skin care but what about growing your own refreshing summertime sips? We chatted with Acqualina Spa by ESPA’s Lead Therapist, Kim Cooke to find out more about growing your own veggies and herbs for summer beverages and she shared her favorite garden-fresh green smoothie recipe with us below!
I am a big fan of organic gardening and green smoothies. What would be better than having a garden filled with all of your favorite vegetables and herbs? I simply go and cut what I want every morning. This short path from the ground to the kitchen counter helps ensure that all of the vitamins and nutrients are at their peak when we consume the fresh produce.
My own garden has arugula, kale, collards, spinach, and dandelion greens. I also have an array of herbs such as mint, cilantro, and parsley that I love to add to my smoothies. If you do not have the space in your yard for a garden these items also grow great in small containers. In my opinion, there is nothing fresher and you never have to worry about your greens not being fresh or going to waste!
One of my favorite morning smoothies to make with ingredients fresh from this garden is this healthy green smoothie!
What you’ll need:
2 cups water
1 green apple
½ squeeze lemon juice
4 romaine lettuce leaves
1 handful of arugula
½ small red beet
pinch of mint
handful of frozen raspberries
Blend together and enjoy!
