The One Treatment No One Should Live Without
People who know I work in the beauty and spa industry often ask me for recommendations when it comes to products and treatments. I love to share my experiences and the tips I learned from aestheticians and dermatologists all around the world. And if you ask me to single out that one treatment that is so great and so important and can actually create a measurable difference in the way your skin looks and ages,
I have one word: EXFOLIATION!
Of course, there are different types of exfoliation. There are a lot of choices out there. For more “serious” exfoliation you may consider a chemical peel. These can range from medical strength (ones prescribed or applied by your dermatologist or an aesthetician) to mild (ones that are part of your daily moisturizer or home mask).A chemical peel can be based on glycolic acid (sugar cane derivate), fruit acid, or vitamin A (as in Retin A).
Then there is particle or manual exfoliation that uses either crystals, as in the case of microdermabrasion (performed in a spa or medical office), or synthetic or natural granules, found in over-the-counter products, that remove surface skin cells without damaging or scratching the skin.
So, in conclusion, exfoliating regularly is that one super-duper, everyone-should-be-doing-it kind of treatment that helps improve the texture and smoothness and minimize discoloration, age spots, and even wrinkles.
If that’s not enough, then I have two more words: COSMETIC SURGERY!
