Ask Susie: Spas on Cruise Ships
Question:
I’m going on a Carnival Cruise at the end of September. I plan on getting a deep tissue massage on the ship. Does SpaFinder have discounts for cruise spa visits?”
Answer:
Dear B.E.
Glad to hear you are planning to include a visit to the spa on your cruise. It’s a real treat to help you relax and get the most out of your time aboard. Although SpaFinder can’t directly facilitate a discount for you, we can help you in a variety of ways. We have a very comprehensive list of spa cruising vessels on our website, and checking with various brands online ahead of time will help you learn about hours, pricing, etc.
Some cruise lines, like Celebrity, have started to allow the pre-booking of spa and salon treatments which is a real advantage because times fill up quickly.
I do have one important hint for saving money: many spas onboard cruise ships (and almost all fleets have a spa these days) have variable pricing. The highest prices are charged during the times “at sea” but one can often find lower prices when the ship is “in port.”
Of course more people book spa treatments while the ship is sailing, instead of while the ship is docked and land excursions are available. However, coming back from an excursion a little early and having a nicely-priced massage after a long day of sightseeing is a pretty smart plan.
Bon Voyage!
Susie
