Spa Spotlight: Vdara Hotel & Spa Brings Eco-Friendly Wellness to Las Vegas
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas—but we want to divulge what occurred on a recent visit to Sin City because the Vdara Hotel and its spa are too good not to share!
Luck Be a Lady
A whirlwind Las Vegas press trip took a group of us journalists from around the globe to the glitz and gaming fun of Sin City. Las Vegas has amazing hotels on offer with stellar spas to boot, and like Sin City’s casinos, each one is distinct, evoking its own theme and atmosphere—and the eco-friendly, all-suite Vdara, where the impression is understated-chic and the service A+, is a testament to that statement. Its exceptionally modern, crescent-shaped design gleams against the Las Vegas skyline; the AAA Four Diamond- and Forbes Four Star-awarded hotel is housed within the Strip’s CityCenter, occupying a 57-story hotel-condo tower.
Spa-ing Sin City-Style
Our first full day in Vegas began at Spa & Salon Vdara (not a bad way to start the visit, huh?). The 11 treatment-room spa takes a holistic health and wellbeing approach with signature rituals, like the Citrus Sorbet Body Polish, that embrace nature’s healing essences and fuse high-grade natural extracts from organic herbs, flowers, fruits, veggies, and oils (the spa is known as the first Las Vegas spa to become a Green Spa Network member). If you’re a fan of the Naturopathica product line, this is the spa for you—an array of skin-care and body therapies such as the Pure Result and Crème de Cassis Moisture Replenishment facials and French Lavender Soothing massage celebrate this brand.
While Spa & Salon Vdara comprises two levels of treatment areas, relaxation lounges, a meditation room, full-service salon, boutique, smoothie bar, and Cybex-equipped fitness center, its relaxed vibe seems to juxtapose this grandness, creating a space that feels truly intimate. This wellness oasis, much like the hotel, has a polished look, utilizing sleek wood and accents of mosaic tiles and whimsical artwork like a dangling bubble-esque chandelier.
Upon arrival, we were ushered outdoors to be treated to one of the spa cabana services poolside (available seasonally): a 25-minute back, neck, and shoulder massage. The morning massage gradually wakened my body and mind, but what made it all the more invigorating were refreshing touches like icy towels wrapped around my feet, cold stones placed on both sides of my nose, and a light, aromatic mist that signaled conclusion of the treatment (and acted as a great sendoff to beat the Las Vegas heat!).
Viva Las Vegas
Vdara is a non-gaming hotel, but if you like the excitement of the roulette wheel or the clinking of the slot machines, try your hand at ARIA Resort & Casino Las Vegas’ 150,000-square-foot casino—just steps away, also part of the Las Vegas CityCenter; the high-end shops of Crystals™ retail avenue is also housed within the center. (But with Vdara’s 40,000-square-foot rooftop pool area, poised stories above Harmon Circle and littered with spa cabanas, loungers, daybeds, and plunge pools, you can bet you’ll never want to leave the hotel premises anyway.)
And when game for a quiet place to rest for a few hours, the hotel’s contemporary, all-suite accommodations (with options from deluxe studios to two-bedroom, dual-level penthouses to hospitality suites) are a winner, outfitted with lavish amenities like oversized windows, spa-style soaking tubs and gourmet kitchens.
Who knew the nonstop-gaming-and-casino-entertaining Las Vegas could be so relaxing?
