Thanks to our post on the best of Asian beauty products, we all know about great brands like Sulwhassoo and Fairy Drops, and we’re already well accustomed with famed brands from France and ones made right here in America…but what about the rest of the world? Well, we decided to take a global glamour trip to pick out some fave beauty products from a few beautiful places – India, Canada, the UK, Africa, and Greece. Check out the best of beauty from around the world!
India
Lakmé – With a name derived from Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth known for her stunning beauty, Lakmé India uses vibrant shades throughout each of its face, lip, eye, and nail collections.
Colorbar Cosmetics – Yet another brand that uses in-your-face bright hues for its cosmetics, Colorbar Cosmetics enables women to express their moods through makeup.
Elle 18 – This collection of, you guessed it, bright pigments, is geared towards the teen set in India. From Nail Pops, Lip Smoothies, Eye Sparklers, and more – Elle 18 is a go-to for India’s young women.
Canada
Marcelle – A Canadian go-to for 75 years, Marcelle offers high-quality skin care and cosmetics for every generation of woman. The makeup is much more classic in its color options and everything is super affordable.
Annabelle – A division of Marcelle since 1999, Annabelle Cosmetics targets a younger audience with more vibrant colors and trendier packaging. Since June 2012, French-Canadian singer songwriter Marie-Mai has been the company’s face, bringing a new energy and diversity to the brand.
Quo Cosmetics – Available only at Shoppers Drug Mart, Quo is an affordable line of cosmetics that stays on point when it comes to what’s trending. Known for its great brushes and lipsticks, Quo is Canada’s go-to drugstore cosmetics brand.
UK
Cowshed – Featuring all-natural, organic skin care, bath, and body products, Cowshed was born from just that – a cow shed. The scents and colors are based around an English country garden and the first-ever spa was opened up in an old cow shed in Babington House Somerset in 1998. While the name may sound playful, Cowshed takes its brand and its formulations super seriously.
Illamasqua – The British beauty brand with a cult following has come a long way from its start across the pond in 2008. The brand was born out of inspiration from the dark and illicit 1920s club scene and alternative cultures – places where people dared to be dramatic and release their alter ego.
Mason Pearson – Any hair-obsessed gal will tell you – there is no brush out there as great as a Mason Pearson brush, and the prices are a total reflection on how amazing they are ($88-$170!). The brand got its start in London in the mid 1860’s where each brush was made by hand. The brand today concentrates on its original invention of the rubber-cushion hairbrush which massages the scalp while being gentle to the hair.
Africa
B|Africa – Used exclusively in Red Carnation Hotel Collection’s South African locations, the B|Africa line of body-care and skin-care products blends together native African plant extracts and ingredients, including oil from the baobab tree, marula oil, avocado butter, honey, rooibos, Mongongo nut, Ximenia kernel oil, and West Coast Atlantic sea salts.
Africology – Considered one of the leading natural, eco-friendly, and holistic spa and skin-care companies in South Africa, Africology is inspired by the wisdom of Africa’s traditional healers and the continent’s vibrant heritage, communities, and plant life.
Malée – High-quality bath and body care products made in South Africa, Malée is inspired by the scents of the African landscape in its transformative, aromatherapeutic power. Malée is a term of endearment for a kind and intelligent woman in Bini, the language spoken by a tribe in the Edo kingdom, Nigeria.
Greece
Korres – With over 5,000 varieties of plants and herbs, Greece is home to an abundance of natural products that are just made for skin care and cosmetics. Korres is Greece’s fastest-growing natural skin-care company with more than 400 natural products in more than 30 countries worldwide, and it’s no wonder with such best-selling products as its lip and body butters, and decadent face serums.
APTIVA – Since 1979, APIVITA (“life of the bee”) has been creating natural effective and holistic products inspired by the society and products of the bee, the rich Greek nature, and the holistic approach of Hippocrates.
Mastic® Spa – The Mastic Tree is an evergreen bush that grows in only one place on the planet – the southern part of the Greek island, Chios. Mastic, the resinous gum that seeps from the tree, has been known since antiquity for its medicinal properties and therapeutic benefits for the skin. Mastic Spa harnesses the power of mastic along with its expertise in pharmacology and cosmetology for this unique line of beauty products for men, women, and children.
