At the Fairmont St. Andrews the colleague Sustainability Team held open forums where employees could make suggestions for how their own departments could make an impact. At Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, they saved more than 60 percent of annual electricity consumption by pumping water from Lake Geneva to air condition the hotel. The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii heats its pool using waste heat from a chiller system and is currently looking to apply solar films to windows and add panels on the roof to get more power from sustainable sources.
