Sip & Spa: Toasting Wine Spas Around the World
If I could blend two things in my life, it would be my love for spa-going and my love for great wine. The following spas seem to read my mind, uncorking a few of my favorite things in one delicious cocktail. Cheers to these spas, all you fellow wine lovers out there!
The Meritage Resort & Spa – Napa, CA: If the Old World, Tuscan-inspired setting in southern Napa Valley’s wine region doesn’t entice you, the 22,000-square-foot Estate Wine Cave—where you’ll find the underground Spa Terra, complete with steam grottos, soaking pools, and water walls—surely will. Reserve the Spa Diva Package, which includes overnight accommodations in a superior guest room or suite; wine tasting for two; and select (two) 50-minute treatments at Spa Terra.
Pillar and Post Inn & Spa – Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON: 100 Fountain Spa at Pillar and Post pays tribute to its Niagara-on-the-Lake wine country locale with vinotherapy-inspired spa treatments like the Purple Feet Pedicure, Bamboo and Wine Scrub, Vinotherapy Facial, and Head to Toe Wine Taster, which use products crafted from indigenous grapes (the outdoor hot springs pool and fireplace lounge don’t hurt, either!).
August Moon Spa at La Tourelle Resort – Ithaca, NY: Select ingredients found in spa products are procured from local wineries and utilized in the spa’s mix of services such as the Vino Therapy Soak, Finger Lakes Grapeseed Massage, Antioxidant Wine Trail Wrap, and Wine Trail Pedicure.
Allison Inn & Spa – Newberg, OR: The Allison boasts a Wine Spectator award-winning 800-label wine list, and its spa features signature “pinotherapy” rituals—pinot-inspired botanical and biological therapy produced by antioxidant-rich wine and grape-seed extracts.
Spa Vinothérapie at Les Sources De Caudalie – Bordeaux-Martillac, France: Be swept away amidst lush vineyards of Bordeaux wine country, where the first Caudalie Vinothérapie® Spa, set deep within the grounds of the Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte estate, awaits. Exclusive wine-inspired rituals include Red Vine and Barrel Baths, the Vinosculpt Facial, Wine Maker’s Massage, and Merlot Wrap, all performed by vinotherapists. (If you can’t make it to France, Caudalie Vinothérapie Spa at New York City’s Plaza Hotel is pretty spectacular, too!)
Wine Spa Peralada – Girona, Spain: Spend some time in “El Celler,” which includes a sauna, tepid shower, barrel shower, heated pool with jets, relaxation area with hot stones, and more before indulging in treatments inspired by the vine: the Grape Skin Massage, Wine Thai massage, Optimum Grape Flash deep-cleansing facial, etc.
