Love is in the air and so are your nerves. Wedding days can be stressful until you’re in the moment and then the day passes in the blink of an eye and yes, it’s the Best Day Ever. So you decided a destination wedding is the answer and you want to use the spa for you and your bridesmaids. What do you need to know?

Hotel Wedding Planners-the MVP

Generally hotels have a dedicated person who will manage the specifics of your wedding. She/he knows the ins and outs of the hotel which comes in really handy if there are any hiccups on the big day. This person typically organizes the delivery of flowers, manages the catering company, deals with seating arrangements, the cake, the cake topper, the music etc.

What’s the big plus to a wedding planner?

She/he will also connect you with the spa so you can have a good idea of who you will work with on the big day. Once the spa confirms the services you need, they’ll equip the salon with all the stylists, make up artists etc so that no one has to wait all day to have their makeup completed by the time the wedding rolls around.

The Spa Director

In concert with the wedding planner, the spa director normally takes the deep dive of understanding how many bridesmaids are in the party, if the mother of the bride and also of the groom will have their hair and makeup done at the salon. She/he will be able to prioritize the wedding party above the other guests who might want to visit the salon the same day. You may even be able to have everyone in your room for more of a unique experience or another room generally designated for the wedding party so everyone can relax, have a celebratory glass of rose and just share their own wedding advice before you walk down the aisle.

Questions for the Spa/Salon

You may want to ask for a look book or social media of the looks the stylist and make up person have previously accommodated. Most, if not all, have Instagram so they’re happy to share images of other wedding parties they’ve worked on. You can then work with them on the style you’re looking for, the color schema and different hairstyles. It feels great to look beautiful on your big day and this is the special gift make up artists and stylists provide.

Some people won’t tell the bride this, but sometimes independent hairstylists and make up artists will cancel on you last minute so it is WISE to look at the Spa/Salon first for booking services. When this happened for my wedding, it unearthed a stream of similar statements from the women invited. Apparently I was not the only one but luckily my wedding planner took care of the whole debacle.
